Full Ceremony — Step by Step
1
Preparation & Fasting
The boy and father fast the day before. The boy symbolically takes leave of his childhood life.

Mundan (Head Shaving)
The boy's head is partially or fully shaved as a symbol of ego dissolution and spiritual rebirth.

Yagnopavita Dharana
The sacred thread (Janeu) is placed over the left shoulder. It represents the three debts to God, Rishis, and ancestors.

Gayatri Mantra Initiation
The Guru whispers the Gayatri Mantra into the boy's ear for the first time — a moment of spiritual birth.

Bhiksha (Symbolic Begging)
The newly initiated Brahmachari ritually begs from his mother first, symbolising humility and dependence on grace.
